Families Beyond Borders was a global online celebration organised by Dewvale School, Al Quoz, for the UAE's Year of Family, held on Google Meet. It brought together participants from several countries for storytelling, group discussion and cultural sharing on the place of the family in people's lives.

Grade 6 students from CIRS spoke about their residential life at the school, and the discipline, togetherness and respect they experience each day. They described the Matru-Pitru Pooja held during Anand Utsav, which expresses gratitude and reverence towards parents, and they sang Matri Sthavanam.

Participants from Nigeria, Dubai, Egypt, Namibia and the Philippines responded warmly to what the CIRS students shared.

What it achieved

The session, linked to Grade 6 English, aimed for students to learn about other cultures and traditions and to share their own with confidence. The school records that they gained respect and empathy for family traditions different from their own, and spoke confidently on an international platform.
