ORIENTATION PROGRAM 2013 BEST EXTRACTS:
RICHNESS UNMASKED (By Sudhir Group)
This is the story of Mr. Ramu, a potter by profession; who used to live in a small hamlet near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. Ramu worked hard to make beautiful pottery and send his children, a son named Sanjay and daughter named Renu to a school nearby in the town of Jaisalmer.
In the school, Sanjay got influenced to get rich immediately seeing the other boys being dropped by their parents in cars and motorcycles. During summer a visitor arrived who with great care and affection enquired about Ramu and his children. Ramu then recognized him as Mukund whose father was a carpenter in a nearby hamlet. Ramu explained that his son was being influenced by rich boys in the school at Jaisalmer and did not help him anymore in his pottery work.
On his way back to school after summer vacation Mukund took permission of Ramu and brought Sanjay and Renu to CIRS where he used to study. At the doorstep of the administrative building they met Guruji. Mukund introduced Sanjay and Renu to Guruji. He explained Sanjay's asiprations to become rich at the earliest and Ramu's dilema. Guruji gave a smile filled with warmth and welcomed them. After the children had water, milk and biscuits Guruji took the children to the garden.
In the garden, Guruji showed the children a large tree to the left of the administrative block with green leaves and purple flowers. He asked the children how the tree looked. The children said that it looked beautiful. Guruji went on to explain that the tree looked beautiful and rich because of its beautiful purple flowers. He further explained that though it looked rich and beautiful; it still provided the purpose of giving shade to people and continued to provide oxygen to humans for survival.
Guruji took the children along for a walk and during lunch time Guruji accompanied the children to Annaksetra, the dining hall. There Guruji showed the children a beautiful vibrant painting having blue, white and black colour which was an abstract painting. He asked the children on what they thought about the painting. Sanjay said that it looked vibrant. Guruji smiled and explained that it looked vibrant and rich because of the colours of nature. The painter had put those colours to please the eye and humans had put a price on it.
Later, Guruji showed the children a painting of a potter making pots and people standing in line to buy one. This painting was made by a student of CIRS. Guruji explained to Sanjay that the potter in the painting was his father and there were people waiting in line to buy one of his pots. Guruji said, "Sanjay, your father is a hardworking potter who uses his knowledge to make pots of claywhich the villagers use to keep their drinking water cool during summer". He is using his knowledge of pottery to earn an honest living nad yet serve the society in quenching their thirst.
While leaving the dining hall Guruji turned and said, "RICHNESS IS A FRAME OF MIND." Richness does not lie in earning a horad of money but in the knowledge that one possesses and disperses to others for the benefit of the society.
Poem By Rati Group (DEVOTION)
Oh child, open your eyes
behold the beauty of our land
Do not make the same mistakes
as we have done....
Care for the trees...
Care for the rivers and lakes
Care for our people.
Oh my child,
Know that you have been a great treasure
Sky is the only measure
Do not stop until you reach the goal
Grow up comfident, brave and good soul.
You are not here to blame others
You are not here to beg from others
Walk like a king .....but
be a perfect servant.
You will grow up
Inspired by our poojya Gurudev
Have faith in God
Be proud to be in CIRS
to serve and smile with love.
Poem By Durga Group
We the parents of 11th graders CBSE
Anxious human beings
gathered together at CIRS campus
sitting in the aarthi hall
on the chairs.
Holding pens and pink chits
with hope in our soul.
At the ice breaking session
seeking the blessings of Goddess Durga
Like true Indians barefeet, flowers
and tilak on our forehead
with golden dreams and aspirations
All have come here with the winners of tomorrow
Under the blessings of Guruji.
