Teacher's Day(05.09.08)

Teachers day was a day when students displayed their appreciation towards their teachers in various ways. The first event of the day was a "mock assembly" in which students impersonated teachers and acted out any unique traits or sayings that teacher had. the students went to the extent of dressing just like their teachers and even mimicking their voice. This was followed by a set of unique games for teachers such as face painting and musical chair. The day ended with a special program, in which the students awarded prizes to some of the teachers conduct insightful interviews of teachers.

Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated with great pomp and show for ten days with joy and devotion towards the bulky Lord - Lord Ganesha. The beautiful rangolis made by the respective classes everyday were simply captivating to see. They depicted the lord in various patterns. The poojas in the morning and the bhajans in the evening were fantastic. Everyone was involved.

The visarjan took place at the end with a blast of music and crackers and all enjoyed dancing on the way. It was just right way of bidding farewill to the Idol of the Lord and not the Lord since he lives in our heart always!

The day was full of various festivities pertaining to the birth of Lord Krishna. The main event was an evening program revolving around the 9 forms of worship and how it was applied in various stories. The students put on marvelour spectacle, with each class performing a different story. The program ended at just before midnight and Swami Swaroopananda then addressed the audience, describing Krishna's birth. At exactly midnight we all welcomed the Lord's birth by singing bhajans and even getting to rock the baby cradle in which a "symbolic baby Krishna" slept. THis was followed by the ever famour ritual of "Matka Phoda". The boys and girls of all the class were given various locations where a pot hung in the air. Annas on the roofs would pull the pots higher as students reached them. At the end every class was successful in breaking their pots and eating the goodies inside. The experience was unforgettable.

The bond between the brothers and sisters of CIRS was celebrated on the 16th of August. This day was celebrated by the girls or better called "sisters" tying raki's to their brothers and also by giving chocolates and sweets to each other. To enrich the ambience of that day, the day before Rakshabhandan, class wise the boys of every grade conducted a program "brotherhood" for their adorable sisters. Some by imitating the girls, and some by having fun with them. Towards the end of the day there was a wonderful skit by Br.Rishi Bhaiya and our dear Darshini Didi which reminded us of the memorable moments with our siblings. It was really a touching skit, specially for those students whose siblings were not with them during the celebrations.

Gurudev- The Visionary, who guided us in all our endeavours, on this day left earth for heavenly abode. On this day, we don’t mourn his leaving us but celebrate the merger of his soul with the lord.

On 3rd August 2008, we had many programmes starting with the worship of Gurudev’s “Charan Paduka”, holding talks about him, writing his name 108 times, chanting mantra, watching video clipping of many moods of this great soul.

Same day we had investiture ceremony of the new students’ council. School Deans Aniruddh Belle and Stuti Khemka with the captains of the four houses, sports and cultural secretaries took oath formally to do their duty diligently and honestly. The band, the march, the pride and the glow everything was perfect – in sync with the mood. We expect the new council to attain greater heights as they were blessed to take oath on Gurudev’s Mahasamadhi Day.

If anything could be grand then this day was indeed.

After 62 years of independence, the spirit of patriotism is alive and can be seen in every individual at CIRS. The glory of the nation and the grand show at CIRS proved the true Indian spirit in CIRS students.

The 15th August’s dawn marked the gathering of all the students and teachers with the National Flag pinned up on their shirts. We marked this ceremony with the hoisting of not one but 62 National Flags symbolising 62 years of independence.

In today's world we can see that there is just enough for everyone's need not for anyone's greed. Those who are reading this article must know that we are the fartunate ones who live on the island of plenty but unfortunately there are those who are drowning in the ocean of depravity. IB believes in all holistic development of an individual which includes the sentimental feelings towards others. We are taught through our course to help these people.

The CAS students of the IB I Year have worked out a program to help a nearby tribal school, Sadivayal, and their students. We have decided to make their stay happier and more fruitful. We have decided to educate them instead of giving them something-for once if a man is taught how to catch fish, he will never starve. We have done this in a variety of ways including teaching of Basic English and patriotic songs including the National Anthem. They showed our school their appreciation by performing a skit on Independence Day.

We have had a great learning experience and a wonderful time interacting with all the children. The joy of elevating someone in life is limitless......

An exhibition was put up by students called “Bharat Darshan” depicting our culture, heritage and achievements. We also had “Puja” of National Flag.

In the evening, there was an Inter-House Patriotic Song competition. This day was grand indeed and at the end of the day we all felt as if we had a wonderful tour around India. This emotionally charged day made us all inspired towards the betterment of our Country.
